Why use a Garden Designer?

I am a Leicestershire based Landscape and Garden Designer. covering areas Warwickshire, Northamptonshire, Oakham and Rutland. I use client centred design, creating an extension of your lifestyle into your outside space. Years of passion for design transfers into carefully chosen materials and planting for texture, movement and considered focal points, to suit your style. Excellent design adds value to your property and to your lifestyle.Nature and sustainable materials are considered throughout the design process as well as consideration of the existing materials used on the property, thus resulting in sympathetic design.

About me
I was a commercial designer for many years in fashion, and travelled a lot. I have a BA Hons Design Degree. I have taught Design for the last 16yrs. Now studying my professional garden design diploma to enhance my lifelong passion for gardens. I believe a garden should entice you to be outside, even those who aren't so 'green fingered' . Your outdoor space is an extension of your house and indoor living space. A garden which has areas to investigate. A range of spaces to spend time in. Whether it's an outdoor kitchen with a louvered pergola, unique planting space to get back to nature, natural swimming pond or a simple firepit social space it should encourage you to look around every corner and adventure through, like a child on a woodland walk. What would you have in your dream outdoor space?
Good design can improve your life and wellbeing. It is a privilege to bring your dreams to reality however big or small. How could we make your dream garden a reality?
I work with professional landscapers who offer aftercare and have years of experience building clients gardens either modern, traditional, wildlife centred, small or large. Give us a call 07985308269

Specialists In.....

I specialise in prioritising soft landscaping rather than a space being heavy on hard landscaping. To feel enveloped in greenery makes a space feel more like an oasis, an escape from todays hectic life demands. Patios are rarely designed using one material without planting considered, so they don't look like a car park. Bringing the garden closer to the house and creating zones to entice you outside is important. Having planting that suits your scheme and lifestyle whether it's low maintenance or full on RHS level horticulture we can cater for it. Planting plans are drawn up, and full care plans given. Our service has been described as "smooth, efficient, clear communication, professional, nature considerations, helpful, with design flair etc" our reviews are good. Our client relationships matter as we design your garden it's important to understand how it will be used and for what purposes.
We have worked with clients who have prioritised wildlife, where hedgehog holes have been created and steps considered accordingly. a farmers field turned into a contemporary English garden, neurodiverse grandchildren where movement and water was to be considered (we completely understand this ) I love a challenge, a why and a problem inspires me as a designer.

Chelsea 2024
This year the sustainable element of garden design was definitely going beyond the crushed bricks under paving which is rarely seen or cared about. Gravel paths featured heavily obviously allowing water to run through rather than off. Planting was varied, particularly with dry planting in mind, in line with climate change.
Every inch of the sanctuary gardens gave a vista to behold, with roof planting, ornaments, textures through moss and hardscaping and quiet places to sit and be mindful featured. Not a smooth paver in sight.Water features without being 'separate' from the garden design rather incorporated or at the centre of the design was also lovely to see. The need to touch and reach for the planting gave a real sensory experience. Ensuring planting is based on low, mid and high levels gives the texture and structure required. Lots of trees, many pine trees too and repetitive simple planting for a calm outcome. Can't wait for the next RHS visit including my next planned trip to see drift planting at Trentham Gardens by Piet Oudolf.

Planting plans can be provided as part of a garden design or a separate service. Plans are designed around the type of soil in the garden, the sunshine and shade, direction in which the garden faces, budget and client colour palette requirements. A care plan can be provided too for care once the garden is planted. I can source the plants and plant. We always advise mulching a new garden to keep the soil a consistent temperature to protect the plants from frost, it's easier to weed and keeps much needed moisture in.
Feel free to contact me about new plants for your garden, new or much loved.
